Synth is a self directed project analysing and visually documenting the synthesizers used in the ‘Synthpop’ genre of music. Synth is an ongoing project and currently is presented in two issues. The stock was chosen to highlight the metallic coldness of the music. Project from the Penguin Design Award. For the cover I used a skull as a striking symbol of death. I decided to construct the skull myself using aluminium wire and moulded a wire mesh around the frame. The shape was then formed from air drying clay. The cover image is designed to draw in the viewer with simple typography, giving the image a greater impact. The flowing coloured ribbons symbolise the main charaters last victim who was a red haired young woman. A project completed for the YCN Student Awards. The brief was to design the window display for a new autumn collection for Ted Baker. I created a painting and decorating team of panda’s with irreverently British accessories to fit the Ted Baker brand to paint over the 'brown' of autumn. I also developed a hand-written typeface for use in this project. The promotional material consisted of a letterpress voucher within a foldout booklet for a vinyl panda toy, which I constructed from clay. The booklet has five ribbon ties and opens to reveal the character voucher. This project looked at promoting Bacardi Flavoured Rum to a younger audience. I completed this project over 2 days. I gave each flavour a sphere and used colour to employ this across the range. The promotional material consisted of a poster campaign and also hand-outs using glowsticks.
